Veteran banker Nate Barber has been elected to the Board of Directors of Business Development Corporation of South Carolina (BDC).

BDC is a non-bank commercial lending company that specializes in U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) loan programs and the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI). The company is headquartered in Columbia, S.C., and primarily serves the state of South Carolina.

Barber had served on the Board of Directors of BDC associated company Certified Development Corporation of South Carolina (CDC) since 2017. He was elected to the BDC Board at its annual meeting on May 5.

“I’ve long focused on helping small businesses meet their opportunities and challenges and I’ve really enjoyed my time on the CDC Board. Moving now to the BDC Board is an exciting next step for me and I appreciate the new role the organization has offered to me,” Barber said.

“Nate Barber has been an exemplary community banker and strong supporter of the economic development community across South Carolina in all the important roles he’s held over the years. We’re honored that he’s agreed to join the BDC Board and we look forward to his continuing contributions,” said Peter Shand, President and CEO of BDC.
