Lexington County restaurateur Adam Huneau has been named Small Business Person of the Year for 2019 by the South Carolina District of the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The award was presented in recognition of Huneau’s hard work and dedication to advancing the small business community. Business Development Corporation worked with Huneau to secure an SBA loan to finance his second Alodia’s Cucina Italiana restaurant.

Huneau opened his second location in 2018 in the former Shirey’s Building on West Main Street in downtown Lexington, joining the original Alodia’s, which opened in 2008 off North Lake Drive in the Irmo area.

The award was presented during the Salute to Small Business gathering held on May 1 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center to connect small businesses and small business advocates.

“This is a team award. I feel honored to share it with my dedicated staff and the business partners who have helped Alodia’s achieve our dream of providing the best dining experience possible while being full participants in our community’s business and civic life,” Huneau said.

“Adam Huneau and Alodia’s have been a joy to work with and we’re excited to see their hard work and dedication recognized with such a distinct honor from the SBA,” said Peter G. Shand, BDC President and CEO.
