Six South Carolina banks were recognized during the 2013 annual meetings of Business Development Corporation (BDC) and Certified Development Corporation (CDC).
"By their participation in our small business lending programs, these progressive institutions are helping South Carolina's economy continue to grow, providing thousands of jobs and millions of dollars of investment in the economic progress of the Palmetto State each year," said Edwin O. Lesley, President and CEO of BDC and Executive Vice President of CDC which is managed by BDC.
This year's annual meetings were held on May 2 at the Clarion Hotel in downtown Columbia. Recognized for their excellent performance in 2012 at the combined luncheon of BDC and CDC were:
CDC and BDC are associated non-bank commercial lending companies specializing in partnering with South Carolina banks to arrange small business financing for entrepreneurs, professionals, manufacturers and other qualifying small-businesses. BDC was created in 1958 and focuses on the SBA 7(a) loan guaranty program, the SC CAP program, SC SSBCI CAP program and SC SSBCI Loan Participation Program. CDC was founded in 1994 and focuses on the SBA 504 lending program.
"Through the utilization of SC CAP and SC SSBCI funding, The Palmetto Bank has extended credit to established, credit-worthy borrowers who would otherwise have difficulty obtaining necessary financing," said Daniel Felder, Vice President, Credit Administrator at The Palmetto Bank.
"The Palmetto Bank is pleased with BDC and its partnership, and we look forward to providing more economic development lending to local businesses throughout the Upstate," Felder said.
For more than 50 years, Business Development Corporation (BDC) has been financing small businesses in South Carolina, ultimately creating new jobs for the citizens of the Palmetto State. Since 1958, BDC and its associate company, Certified Development Corporation (CDC), have approved over 1,800 loans totaling more than $670 million, making them leaders in SBA lending in South Carolina.
