W.C. "Bill" Grimes Retires After 25 Years With BDC

Bill GrimesBill Grimes, a veteran credit analyst and commercial lender with over 46 years of helping small businesses and creating jobs, retired effective December 31st after 25 years of service with Business Development Corporation (BDC).

In 1988, Bill joined BDC where he was Executive Vice President and Corporate Secretary, with primary responsibility for the loan making and portfolio management activities for the company. He is one of the founders of, and was President, Executive Director and Corporate Secretary for the Certified Development Corporation of SC (CDC), which was founded in 1992 as an associate of BDC.


A native South Carolinian and a 1962 graduate of The Citadel in Charleston, SC, Bill has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. Upon graduation from The Citadel, Bill began a career with the Federal Government, subsequently completing almost twenty-six years of government service. The final twenty-one plus years were with the Small Business Administration, where he retired as Deputy District Director for the Columbia, South Carolina District Office.
